Halloween has come and gone, Christmas aisles are being filled, and the Pumpkin Spice Latte is back! The Holidays are here, and we are excited to kick off the end of this year with the Difference Makers of Hawaii Intentional Acts of Kindness Tradition.
For the past two years, DMH has switched from making mass Thanksgiving Meals to blessing families with a quality, full course dinner, enough for everyone in the household. Our vision stemmed from the desire to give back during the holidays, however wanted to steer away from the need to fund raise and spend an overabundance of time prepping and preparing.
It always goes back to our fundamental question,
That’s when we decided to take advantage of Zippy’s Thanksgiving Meals To Go, for the first year, and Creation’s in Catering Gourmet Thanksgiving Dinner last year. Our family members and close friends sponsor these meals, and ask the community to join in and help us select two families to bless.
If you’ve been following along, you have already been introduced to Esmeralda and Anita’s families in 2014.
This past year, the Department of Health recommended a local family of 6 living in Kuhio Park Terrace, who we were able to meet and provide dinner for. Later in the day, we met up with the Rivers Ohana, another local family living in Mililani. DMH had an amazing time coloring, playing games, and enjoying the afternoon!
Difference Makers of Hawaii has chosen one family, and are asking the community to help us bless another.
Please note: When keeping someone in mind for this dinner, it is not based on financial need, and we are not targeting a specific demographic. Our vision is for this to be a gift, a symbol of affirmation of hard work, and most importantly a way to let people know they are thought of and loved.
